A country girl and a city boy fall asleep and wake up in completely different worlds — each other’s bodies in different parts of the country. Then, after a crash course in each other’s lives and figuring out how to communicate with each other, things take an unexpected turn.
Don’t let that all-too-brief description dissuade you from seeing this movie. In fact, go see “Your Name.” as soon as you can, because it won’t be in theaters for long. The film is Japan’s #1 film of 2016 — and as if that weren’t convincing enough, it’s the highest-grossing anime of all time.
The film can be seen in Japanese with English subtitles or overdubbed in English. Award-winning Japanese rock band RADWIMPS composed the film’s soundtrack and original score. The bands frontman, Yojiro Noda, wrote English lyrics for the English dub version of film.
“Your Name.”, or『君の名は。』, pronounced “kimi-no-na-wa” in Japanese, opens in two Sacramento theaters and one in Stockton, CA, for a limited engagement beginning on Friday, April 7, 2017.
